Summer 2025 Development Intern
Position Summary
The American Academy in Rome seeks a highly motivated undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate to join its Development Office in New York for Summer 2025. This internship offers hands-on experience in fundraising, nonprofit administration, and communications, with opportunities to gain exposure to a broad range of activities supporting an international arts and humanities organization. Interns will receive training in Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce, as well as in iWave for prospect research. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in development, the arts, and nonprofit leadership. The intern will report to the Manager of Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of donor proposals, reports, and communications.
- Conduct research on individual and institutional donor prospects.
- Support database management tasks, including data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Assist with the migration of data from Raiser’s Edge CRM to Salesforce.
- Participate in the planning and execution of special events.
- Support visual communications and design initiatives, as needed.
- Perform general administrative tasks and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in the humanities, art history, arts administration, or nonprofit management.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or InDesign is a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Willingness to work some evenings for events, as needed.
Internship Terms
- Duration: June–August 2025 (flexible start and end dates).
- Schedule: Two days per week (approximately 14 hours/week).
- Location: On-site at the Academy’s New York offic
- Compensation: $16.00/hour.
Work Environment
This internship is based at the Academy’s New York office. The role offers exposure to a dynamic, mission-driven organization with an international presence in the arts and humanities.
